Centrally located on the Broome Peninsula, Broome Time Resort offers self-contained accommodation with a flat-screen TV and DVD player. Breakfast each day was wonderful, and gave us the opportunity to mingle with other guests and talk about travels and experiences. The room was beautifully air conditioned and instructions to leave the a/c on while absent was really useful in the tropical weather. We had a family room, which meant that our daughter could have the bedroom and we had the bed in the living area, which was handy for our night time trips to the toilet. The pool was just lovely, and it was relaxing to sit with our feet in the water after a big day out.

Welcome to Broome’s longest standing hospitality establishment. Our iconic hotel was founded back in 1890 as respite for the pearling crews and pioneer workers of the era, a tradition that we are... The staff were absolutely amazing! We had the best time. Couldn’t be happier.

Pinctada McAlpine House has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and bar in Broome. This 4-star hotel offers a concierge service, a tour desk and free WiFi. Marilynne made the most breakfast. Every day something different. She is a great chef and presents the food beautifully. The pool was refreshing and very clean. The hosts make you feel home, always there for a nice chat. When one guest didn't feel well, Marilynne looked after him. I also loved the old original building. The bathroom was brand new with wonderful italien tiles. Towels, bedlinen, everything so nice, clean and welcoming to feel home. I loved it there. It is very close to town, but because it was so hot I was happy driving around in my car. You can park your car on the property.
Loved the relaxed attitude of the locals, everyone so friendly and helpful. So there was a nice ambience. Getting around without a car was tricky as there is an uncordinated taxi arrangement but we did manage, so thanks to the taxi drivers. There was also extreme variation to price for same distance - up to 100%. Dined at a variedty of locations and found we liked the Wharf best. Loved the day trip to horizontal falls but would advise travellers to research the timing and implications of neep tide. Whale search was fun and productive on one trip. Camel ride also a lot of fun. Crocodile park tour very informative
Its a busy service centre , its easy to get around but your own transport is a bonus, The two main commercial centres are a couple of km apart. The airport is in the middle of town and the flight path goes straight over the CBD and Chinatown. Quite startling to watch a big jet wheels down thundering low overhead. There is an hourly bus service to Cable beach and back during the tourist season with convenient stops along the way. Good shopping in Broome, supermarkets and general stores for everything you need. A broad range of accommodation options from the luxury high end to back packer places. Kimberley Travellers Lodge was nice, low cost comparatively and handy to the CBD and walking distance to the airport Chinatown and the airport. Definitely go to Cable Beach, a great location, good safe swimming with lifeguards and adjacent food outlets..the Divers Tavern is great as is the General Store by the RAC campground. There lots to do in and around Broome and its brimming with history and good views, easy walking and adjacent to the sea for cooling breezes.
After-hours check in to Broome Vacation Village was awkward with the need the program the outdoor safe 3-row tumblers with a number that was sent to you by email but only partly sent by sms. Dialing in the numbers from the sms did not work, you had to use the numbers given in the email but we did not know this subtly. All other aspects of Broome Vacation Village were fantastic but the Chalet cabins are clustered together and there is a bit of a walk (3-minutes) from the parking bays at the front of the cluster. There are many activities in Broome to keep you occupied: - 3-hour fishing trip with Absolute Ocean Charters was fabulous and rewarding. - Late arvo sunset cruise was fabulous. - The swimming and facilities below Cable Beach Surf Clubhouse are excellent anywhere between 1/3rd and full tide but not recommended at low tide. - Ditto Gantheaume Point beach where you have the added ability to drive on the beach to find a less densely populated spot to swim. - Visit to lighthouse and walk around the historic house grounds was well worth the effort. PS: We did the Cable Beach camel ride 2-years ago but didn't worry about it this year however highly recommended if you haven;t done it before.
Broome is an iconic place to visit, and we will spend more time there in the near future. Does tend to be expensive however due to its popularity and remoteness. The old town is pleasant to visit and many iconic shops to visit, particularly if looking for pearls! There are wildlife parks and other attractions as well - try a sunset camel ride.
We were in Broome at the end of the dry season, start of the wet season. Sometimes called the build up. It is hot for someone coming straight from a cooler climate. The atmosphere of the town is relaxed and welcoming. I think it would be a great escape from the colder states during their winter.
Pick your time to visit carefully. In wet season many things are closed or do not operate. If you hire a car a 4 WD Is advised due to some places of interest are on unsealed roads with corrugations.
