Our 3rd visit to Hondarribia. Wonderful historic centre.
Our 3rd visit to Hondarribia. Wonderful historic centre. Great beach area. Unique in that there is a little boat that crosses to France in 7 mins. Many restaurants and bars. Can be very lively, particularly during festivals.Guest review byBUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We found the Atalaia an ideal stopping off point on our journey to Spain and we will return again. We loved the style and size of the rooms and the modern clean bathroom. Staff were very friendly and only deficit was a lack of coffee/tea in the room.Guest review byBill StevensonUnited Kingdom - 10
Lovely, long beach.
Lovely, long beach. Quieter than St Jean de Luz, but still with a good choice of small restaurants, often specialising in fish/seafood. Good public transport links, not expensive, to be able to visit other nearby villages and towns of the Basque Country Lovely walk up over the headland, or instead -a little stroll along the promenade. Visited Hondaribbia in Spain by a very short boat trip that leaves from Hendaye port. Beautiful little village-nice pintxos in the restaurants ! And good view from up by the castle. The historic little train de la Rhune up the mountainside not to be missed-but book ahead-it gets full. The chateau d’Abbadia is interesting.Guest review byHonoréeUnited Kingdom - 10

A beautiful hill village ideal for walkers - very quiet, we didn't see any shops in the village though so car required. Very convenient for the motorway France/Spain. Not many places to eat when we were there in late April. We ate in our hotel - Les Jardins de Bakea which was FANTASTIC! Just superb.Guest review byBUnited Kingdom - 10

On going to the dining room for dinner,We were given strips of chicken with Chips, and fried lamb chops with chips-nothing else such as sauce (Mint ,gravy )All cooked in a frying pan.We compained and were not charged, but the next day was contacted by the manager who said we had not paid for the dinner. We were then told to pay up,which we have done,Not going there again.Guest review byKen PrydderchUnited Kingdom - 10
Relaxed, friendly town.
Relaxed, friendly town. The main town is separate from the area with the beach - about a 20min walk along a pleasant waterside walk/cycle way. Both areas are worth a visit. The main town has a nice square with some lovely cafes/small restaurants and the beach area is a little more touristy but also has good places to eat overlooking the sea. We happened to be in town for a fortnightly Friday night community supper in the port so enjoyed freshly grilled sardines, bread, cheese, basque tart and a glass of wine for €13Guest review byEleonoreUnited Kingdom - 10
Lovely area, especially the old town and Plaza de Guipuzcoa.
Lovely area, especially the old town and Plaza de Guipuzcoa. Great vibe on the main streets Nice beach. Good hiking paths. Food is outstanding and prices are reasonable. Inexpensive water taxi across the river to France. The Parador (a 10th century fort/castle) is amazing inside. Worth a visit evenif you're not staying thereGuest review byPatrickUnited States - 8.0
It was a little difficult finding somewhere to eat at night.
It was a little difficult finding somewhere to eat at night. There were lots of wine bars, a few Tapas places and fast food areas in the nearby shopping mall. However, a good quality restaurant we couldn't find despite walking around the town for 30 minutes.Guest review byBrianFrance - 8.0
Hendaye was lovely to be able to relax and walk everywhere.
Hendaye was lovely to be able to relax and walk everywhere. Very good place for walking and cycling. The beaches were clean and offered plenty for families and surfers. The restaurant’s we ate at were good value, but there does seem to be a shortage of restaurants.Guest review byCatherineUnited Kingdom
