Such a welcoming couple!
The accommodation was awesome. We especially liked the fact that (as it was raining for mmost of our stay) there was a table and chairs (we put them on the deck under cover) outside, as well as inside (roomy). A big bonus is the washing machine and dishwasher. And also, Such a wonderful surprise were all sorts of goodies, such as yoghurt and fruit cups, lots of milk, fruit juice.....and bonus chocolate and chips.
There are a few shops at the Hub nearby (kmart , bunnings, etc), supermarkets are in Whakatane which is not too far to drive to , about 10mins. We enjoyed the Peace and quiet!

Equipped like your home - or better. Comfortable bed, cozy living & dining room, practical kitchen and bath. Location generally very quiet, and still reasonably quiet if the distant neighbours throw a party. Definitely worth staying more than one night.

Incredibly central, very friendly lady on the desk who pointed me to the Sunday craft market which was a lot of fun. Older building but very very clean and comfortable. A great place to stay with the dogs.

It was nice to be close to the beach but for the price you...
It was nice to be close to the beach but for the price you pay it's not worth it, no milk tea or coffee, you have to take you own bedding and towels and for the price I could have got a motel or hotel close to the beach for a lot cheaper and wouldn't have had to pack bedding and towels etc.

not many restaurant options are in Thorton itself - you do need to travel to Whakatane. the room itself does have cooking facilities - so bring food with you as you can virtually just stay at Thorton the whole time if you are organised and prepared well enough.
