Hotels near Portimão Airport - PRM, Portimão

I loved staying in Portimao. It offers the possibility (via water taxi, tickets available at front desk!) to visit Ferragudo. This small fisherman town is very beautiful and charming. Portimao has it all: beach, scenery, hiking, stores, restaurants, pasteleria, cafés and bars. People are kind, polite, and let you cross the streets everywhere. Try Faina restaurant (best cod cakes!) Typical Portugese fare: try Squash Restaurant. For something unique and very “beachy”, try NoSoloAgua. The Bao buns are heaven! Portimao feels safe for walking around. Nice clean city. And don’t forget to book a Discovers boat tour to the caves!!! Mind blowing!

Highly recommend this cozy cottage just outside of Portimao. The owners are lovely people and they make sure the guests have everything they need. The apartment is newly renovated, spotlessly clean, comfortable, absolutely gorgeous gardens and pool, 15-20 minutes to Portimao and the beach, and perfect for a place to really relax.

Alvor is a fairly small resort, made up of a series of small fairly narrow walkways that are lined with the various restaurants, bars, and small shops. Most of the streets / walkways lead down to the seafront where you find the main three or four fish restaurants, that cook up the catch if the day, for the hundreds of locals, and tourists that decend into the area each evening. Alvor is very family friendly, there are no hen or Stagg parties, and no groups of people singing their favourite football chant from the outside of bars. There are families walking round of an evening, deciding where to eat enjoying their break away, removed from the normal treadmill of life. So great relaxing location, lots of places to eat and drink, in a small fairly compact location,.

Everything was wonderful including the hosts, property, room, location, parking, fresh local foods for breakfast, and surrounding towns full of shopping , restaurants, sight seeing and activities. The value for your money was phenomenal. I wish all hosts were as kind, attentive, helpful, caring, and concerned for all of our needs. The breakfast choices were wonderful and both days we didn’t eat lunch because we weren’t hungry after the large, delicious breakfast.

Portimao is a nice place to visit. We rented a car after 2 days in Faro and were planning to visit other places in the Algarve but ended up going only to Sagres for one day and spending the remaining 3 days in Portimao. It seems like a good place for longer stays in a nice climate. The more historic part of town near the bridge is worth visiting and the beaches are very wide and scenic. There is a good variety of restaurants. The hotel and restaurant prices were very reasonable and the places were not crowded. Mid may was a good time for our trip. Every day in this area was 22-23 degrees and sunny with cooler evenings. I would recommend it.

Very nice quiet village not far from A22 and N125. Good eating and drinking, though this is not a late-night centre! It's only about 20 mins to some good beaches and handy for a trip uphill to Monchique.
