If you come to England to explore small towns, Banbury is a must-see. You'll think: Aha! I've seen that town before! Especially if you're a fan of Midsomer Murders or Poirot. Banbury is a place for lovers of stone houses, roses blooming in all colours, history and mystery. Where better to have ghosts than in a house over 600 years old, once said to have belonged to George Washington's nephew and the Bishop of Lincoln? It was at Easington House that we were fortunate enough to stay. It was a dream come true. We've visited many places, but nowhere has been so beautiful, comfortable, welcoming, and unique. Located on Banbury's outskirts, yet still close to the city centre and train station, this guesthouse is managed by ladies with angelic souls. Exceptionally kind and caring, they are the good spirits of this place, which itself is straight out of a Victorian romance. This made us change our plans and stay an extra day. The house is surrounded by a stunning greenery of wonderfully fragrant flowers and shrubs. The omnipresent stone seems to whisper tales of bygone times. When you step inside, the view of the interior, with its large, working fireplace and stone floors, is breathtaking. The bedrooms are pure 'Sense and Sensibility' combined with a magnificent, large, comfortably furnished bathroom that can surprise with its functional solutions. Beds are available in both small and large sizes, exceptionally comfortable. The alcoves, dressing tables, and decorative elements are a true paradise for the eyes and soul. Behind the house, hidden in the shade of hedges, a garden with tables and chairs offers a relaxing setting both day and night. Breakfast in the bright, atmospheric dining room overlooking the lush garden is a pure pleasure. The prices are surprisingly low for the high standard, and the experience itself is priceless. Easington House is undoubtedly the most wonderful and charming place we've ever been!

situated within close walking distance of the town centre the facilities include private, free parking with a secluded quiet garden. Good sized, simple room with shower/bath and all necessary extras. Paid the extra for a superbly cooked full english breakfast which was worth every penny catered by caring, friendly and professional staff.

Charming, convenient, quiet location to break our journey on the way to the south coast. The added bonus was good ale in the pub and an excellent sharing platter of Greek deliciousness. Getting some fresh air with a walk through the village was also very pleasant. The Stags Head beats the chain hotels by miles.
