We had an incredible experience at Mango Japanese House! The owner is exceptionally friendly, making us feel truly welcome. The delicious fresh breakfast and dinner were a highlight, though ordering in advance is necessary. The cozy, clean, and private houses, along with the great pool, provided a refreshing escape. Surrounded by lush greenery, it felt like a real paradise garden – a peaceful retreat away from noise, offering genuine privacy. Highly recommend for a serene getaway!

The location is quite convenient to access from the airport. The room was comfortable and clean. But the best part of our stay were the staff, who were very helpful and kind. They gave us a welcome fruit juice, arranged an airport transfer, and the next day a trip to Colombo train station.

Absolutely beautiful home with really kind hosts. The room was very spacious, clean, had very good AC and a modern bathroom. We booked a room as a stop before we headed to the airport for very early flights and the location was very convenient.

You can book this place without any hesitation as: The host will give you a warm welcome and will prepare a good and big breakfast; before your arrival he will be in contact if you need any important information about the country (he can arrange transport from airport to the property, and if you arrive after a long flight, this can be very useful); The location is convenient from Colombo airport; The room is simple, but clean and for the money you'll pay is incredibly good! My partner and I had the best stay at Star Canal Cottage. After receiving a great tuk tuk tour around Negombo from Leon at the start of our trip, we stayed at his guesthouse before our departure too due to his friendliness and consideration. Our room very clean, spacious and light, with a powerful hot shower in the bathroom. The location is great, close to the city centre with restaurants nearby, but down a quiet canal road to enjoy the peace. We read and listened to the birds on the terrace during the day, while drinking home made lime juice before an excellent dinner of home-made prawns from Leon. A wonderfully kind, funny, and diligent host (and now friend), we will recommend Star Canal Cottage to anyone wishing to visit Sri Lanka :)
