Everything. The interiors, everything is so clean. He also has a lot of free stuff like the shave ice which we thoroughly enjoyed, the bath was amazing the whole place is an old Japanese house with modern fittings inside. We really enjoyed our stayed here. We will definitely come back here. The staff was amazing and really helpful. It is also close to the shrine.

This was the most wonderful stay I have experienced. I stayed here whilst I did the Kumano Kodo. I loved the style of the building. The location was great for the walk itself as a half way point. You feel exhausted after that first day and this is a great place to stay to rest and recoup. The welcome drink was very welcomed and we enjoyed it in the lovely garden. The room its self was plush and so comfortable. Hitomi and Omry did everything to make this the most comfortable and enjoyable stay. I don’t even know where to start with the meal, you must book the dinner, breakfast and lunch. It was definitely at the maximum end of my budget to do this but I will never forget the experience. Me and my friend shared a 5 course dinner, all courses were oishi (delicious) and so perfectly presented. Even now 2 months later I can remember the dinner and the flavours and how it made me feel. The packed lunch the next day was perfect fuel for the walk. Great shower to rinse off from the day as well and lovely living room area.

Shingu
Accommodation is fitted with air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with bidet, slippers and a hair dryer. A fridge and kettle are also provided. At the guest house, all units have bed linen and towels. The Temple Hotel is perhaps a bit of a misnomer. There are lots of temples in the area, which is a lovely traditional residential area, plenty small restaurants, and it's a short pleasant walk to Kumano Hayatama Taisha, one of the grand Kumano shrines. The guest accommodation, just two rooms, is in a rather drab road-facing building, but the rooms are huge, have a kitchenette and huge amounts of free alcohol included. The hotel is, in fact, run by the monks of the temple on the same compound, and the temple is lovely and free to visit, but the accommodation is modern. What's also good is that the bus stop for the Kumano Kodo sites is less than 100m from the hotel. I paid 51 Euro for one night, pretty okay given my relatively late booking, the size of the room and the amenities and tourist-friendly location. It can be a bit hard to find, as there are many temples in the area. The entrance is from the main road, and there is an okonomiyaki place right by the entrance. It is also good to inform the staff when you will be arriving, as the staff do work at the temple and there is no formal reception desk.

The quality of the accomodation/price ratio is very great. Takaji, the owner was fun and nice. We enjoyed our stay even if it was rainy. The beach, which is very close, is very fun and beautiful. There was a lot of people surfing there. Don’t hesitate to book, you will not regret it!
Shirahama Onsen, Shirahama

This guest house offers free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. The owners are very sweet, welcoming people. The house is splendid, the room is cozy and spacious, the conditioner is working. We had a good night's sleep. Surprisingly cheap for such a good place and a last minute reservation. Went to a nearby yakiniku place (Yakiniku ichi, 2 min walk from the property), wasn't able to stop thinking about it for the past week, one of the best meals I've ever had. In the morning we went to the cafe the owners run (Quaith, キース) and had delicious cheese and bacon toasts for breakfast. If I ever go to Shirahama again will definitely stop there again.

The private on sens which they had 4 so plenty and very nice. Breakfast was also nice but it's the natural and nature setting that was very nice, central enough to have all the mod cons but on the other hand remote enough so you felt with nature and quiet. Staff was very nice and helpful too. There also is a good laundry opposite that washes and dries, was very handy to use after many days on the road. Night is also colourful with very lovely light display was a surprise.
You won't get much better than this for cheap and cheerful Kumano-kodo breaks. I even got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kit. You have access to basic cooking facilities, and you sleep in a nice little cupboard. The staff are friendly and personable. It's clean and cheap for the area. If you don't need luxury there's no reason to stay anywhere else really.
Great staff, great location, great people. And 3 private onsen!
Great hostel! Located right along the Kumano Kodo, with great access to hiking. Stayed in the mixed dorm and was very impressed with the size and comfort of the beds. Lots of privacy for a hostel. Everything was clean. Kitchen well equipped. Private onsen access was great as well. Loved our stay here!
1. Good Sea view especially sunset (even though I am too busy outside and no chance to see it.) 2. 1st floor room size is big that including a living room with a sofa, refrigerator, TV, Drying rack and also a Queen size bed which I feel very comfortable. 3. They have 3 washing machines and 2 drying machines that is free to use That helped me a lot to wash my sweaty clothes. 4. Price is cheap. 5. Owner is a old couple but very nice to introduce their property as much as they can in Japanese. 6.Quiet
Location to the beach and to local Ginza street with some great eateries. Central to many points of interest. Area was very quiet ( mid April) which was exactly what we needed. Crystal blue water, white sand & comfortable accom with private onsen
The private onsen was really nice. Great location for kumano kodo trail and near bus stops for easy transport to different locations. Was situated on a beautiful river where you can walk down to the water.
Really great value for a whole apartment. The kitchen was reasonably equipped, beds and pillows were comfortable, heating made it nice and warm and it’s located in a quiet neighbourhood. A little way out of town but there’s cheap bicycle rental at the property that makes things a bit more accessible - hot tip, take the tunnel on your right when you’re heading into town, it’s not marked on google maps and there’s no signs in English, but that’s the tunnel for bikes and pedestrians. Good place to stay if you’re heading to Nachi falls!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This traditional Japanese house is very well looked after and is in a great location, and within walking distance of two onsen. Manabu is a great host, even delivering handmade rice balls each morning. We also ate at his restaurant which was very good. Highly recommended.
