We had a great time at Maringi Sumba where we spent 3 nights: - Accommodation: we stayed in a beautiful bamboo pavilion that had everything you need; the cleaning team came twice a day and made sure the room is tidy and spotless; we appreciated the complimentary laundry service since we had a 3 week vacation in Indonesia - Staff: welcoming, friendly, polite, paying attention to small details, remembering our names, explaining the facilities, activities, etc, they were the highlight of our stay, especially Alice who was our guide - Communication: smooth, fast and professional via WhatsApp, helped with booking trips for us and with any inquiry we had - Food: high quality products, home made, tasty, a great variety of choices, we enjoyed every meal - Trips: we did 2 tours through Maringi (Lamboya and Marapu) both were good to learn more about the island and the culture; we had a student with us(without a tour guide) during both trips and we felt that the information provided was very minimal, we were expecting more details about the culture/island/traditions etc, not sure if it’s the students’ job to know this, maybe consider having a professional guide instead or train the students for this purpose which will add great value. The restaurant included in the Marapu tour was disappointing, no appetizer, no dessert, no drinks, and portion was too small for two people. We missed the hotel’s food which was far better. The prices on the brochure were not accurate, please make sure you list the correct price/ person and not per group. - Location: quiet location, not far from the airport, we enjoyed the pool, the yoga class and the rest of the facilities (pool), the only downside is the lack of beach access but we didn’t mind since we booked tours to explore the island - Overall: great quality for the price, attentive staff, hopefully we will return back soon to Sumba to explore even more, thank you for making our stay memorable!

Had a great stay at Oro beach houses. Ended up extending our time by an extra two nights. There are two types of rooms available, Beach Villas which are two rooms next to each other and beach houses which are separate. The rate is roughly a 100k extra for the beach houses which is worth it for the extra space and privacy. Beach villa rooms have air conditioning for an extra charge, however when we visited in July we did not find it necessary. Every room comes with a fan and mosquito net (although when we visited at the beginning of August there were very few). An outside bathroom is attached to each room, with a cold shower. WiFi is not available in the rooms but available in the common areas. Telkomsel signal is also very weak. Breakfast, consisting of fruit and either banana pancakes or omelet, is included in the room rate. Additionally, dinner is available, the dishes available change daily and cost 85k per person. We ate there twice and the food was very good! Airport pick ups can be arranged for 150k. Scooter rental can also be sorted for 250k per day, which is expensive for Indonesia but typical for Sumba. The scooters we rented were very good quality and larger than your regular scooter (which is helpful as the roads in Sumba are not the best). Everyone was super friendly and helpful, especially Noni and Mario! They helped us sort a shared taxi to Waingapu (200k pp) Additionally Tours can be organised although we did not do any. Definitely recommend staying here!

The best part of the stay was definitely the staff, Monica to be more precise. She made us feel so welcome. The sheets were clean and smelled well, warm water, beautiful sea views and goof air conditioning and the breakfast was great. We wanted to rent a bike and the staff in 20 min arranged us a great bike and also a driver to bring us to the airport. Thank you again Monica and the other girls for our amazing stay.

Everything is perfect. All staff is very kind. Highly recommend.
