Absolutely stunning place. 173 steep stone steps up the hill, you reach this hidden gem in the middle of the Ligurian mountains. From morning till night, all you want to do is gaze over the mountains, and you will never wish to be anywhere else. Leo is the perfect host and then a little more. Very helpful and extremely kind, and in addition to this, he is a great cook🍋 We were lucky to get a chance to participate in his wonderful dinner. Thank you! Every morning he serves a luxurious breakfast on the terrasse, we felt very spoiled💕 In less than half an hour, you reach the Mediterranean and can jump into the beautiful turquoise water from eg. Chiavara, Sestri Levante, or anywhere else. A must is to visit Portofino, either by car, bus, or boat, departing from several harbors along the coast. Charming villages everywhere, but the best part of going to the coast is to return to the mountains and climb the 173 steps to your calm and lovely place ⛰️. Down the hill, there is a wonderful restaurant, Ca' di Prei, with local dishes, and a bit further down is the Michelin trattoria La Brinca. Make sure to book your table well in advance!🍝 We loved the car ride up the steep and narrow roads, and we learned to appreciate the steps from the parking lot to Farmhouse Castagnola 64. By the way, make sure to bring home a bottle or two of Leo and Lu's own olive oil 🫒

We had an great time there, even with the bad weather. Rooms are large (at least the one we've had), modern and very well cleaned. It's very well placed, not too far from Portofino, and with a little effort (and a car) even the Cinque Terre can be visited from this base. Both restaurants are very good quality, we've had dinner in both of them. Breakfast is not buffet, so it's difficult to compare it with other 5 star hotels, but it's good enough.

Wonderful host !!The owner Francesco greeted us on time and helped us to the homely apartment. Francesco then drove with me to find parking and brought me back on his scooter touring the town to give me my bearings . He then recommend excellent restaurants and sites. The next morning he served us a huge breakfast, better than at that cafe’s. My girlfriend had a toothache and he called the dentist and really looked after us. The place is highly recommended . The location is perfect next to the restaurants with a sea view from the windows

    Very special location for a very special journey. A quite atypical place, lost in the mountain for a journey very relaxing. People managning the welcome are pretty sympathic. Breakfast is great in this context. Great place to avoid the rush after a day visiting the cost.
