She was attentive and made every effort to me us comfortable. The location, building, decor very pretty and lots of potential to be very very great but some things were a letdown. The shower didn't drain properly and the buffet dinner was cold. Breakfast wasn't very good either.

We originally booked for three days but ended up extending for another three because we loved it so much. JJ and his family/staff are all very kind and friendly — they made us feel so at home in their beautiful slice of the world. Elephantine Island is very relaxed and has a lovely local feel (a very nice change from Aswan city and the rest of Egypt!). That said, you’re only a two-minute ferry from the mainland which was super easy and we went in most nights for dinner. We booked a tour to Abu Simbel through JJ which saved us from having to think about logistics of getting there ourselves 🙌🏼 we ended up being the first group there for the day so got some amazing photos and we’re back in the guesthouse by 1pm. Also the included breakfast was incredibly generous. Everyday we had fresh juice, eggs, bread, salad, cheese, fruit salad, jam & honey. Honestly amazing value and cooked with love. Plus the view from the rooftop (where breakfast is served) is beautiful, looking over the Nile. Our room also had an amazing view of the river. Honestly I can’t rave enough about this place. We feel so happy to have stumbled upon JJ Guesthouse and are leaving with some very special memories ✨🩷

It was the best place we stayed in our whole trip in Egypt! Everything was new and clean, AC worked great, breakfast was delicious and the host was super helpful. I can’t recommend it enough!

Such a warm welcome from the owner. The hotel was just as expected—designed in a Nubian style. The rooms were distinctive, beautiful, clean, and safe. The staff were lovely and took great care of us, especially Ali, who coordinated everything and recommended various tourist spots. We were most impressed by him. Ali became like a friend and younger brother to me. We truly felt happy with the warm welcome from the owner and his daughter. Everything, including the ride and the sunset trip to Abu Simbel Temple, was wonderful. They were very kind and friendly—this place felt like a second home to us. The food was delicious, especially the omelet, which reminded us of home after being away for over seven days. Highly recommended—everything was truly excellent and won’t disappoint.
