Washing machine is a god send as I am backpacking. Room is spacious with study table, queen sized bed, hairdryer and even a fan! Toilet/washroom is also just perfectly sized and functionally designed.

We loved everything about our stay. It was the perfect historical setting. The grounds were so beautiful to walk, watch the swans, or sit at the big window (if raining) and enjoy the gardens. It’s still close enough to town to see the sites or take a tour then return to a relaxing home. Sharing a house and meeting other travelers was a bonus. Most of all, we enjoyed our evening with the host (Mark) and his son (Harry) sharing stories. We highly recommend staying at the Shannon River House.

It was nice to be able to shop for food and cook our own meals. Definitely gave us a more authentic experience than the city hotel we stayed in on the first leg of our trip. Located in the village of Adare, 19 km from Limerick, Adare Country House features a garden, terrace and shared lounge with TV. Dennis and Eileen were lovely host and hostess. The place was very cozy and comfortable. Would definitely stay with them again!
