Yakaduru is renowned for its architecture and tourism, where guest can stay in properties built by Mud and palm thatched roofing. Yakaduru Yala runs on renewable energy sources, and features free WiFi, on-site parking and a barbecue facility. Staying at Yakaduru was one of the best ideas we had during the trip in Sri Lanka. The staff looked after us and took us on an amazing walk around the hotel. They have a wealth of knowledge about animals, they are true enthusiasts! Hotel clean, very well maintained. Food - adapted to European tastes ;-) very delicious ... and lots of it .... Safari expedition (in our case a full day) - was great. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to meet nature face to face and relax!

The area is popular for fishing and cycling, and bike hire is available at this 2-star hotel. Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

Staying at Black Panther Yala was the absolute highlight of our two weeks in Sri Lanka. It was such a special weekend where we learnt/ate traditional food (e.g. oil cake), participated in the rituals and traditions and met the neighbours and relatives. The room was comfortable and the food delicious. Dinner included is such a rare treat. The location is lovely, set next to the wetlands. You can borrow bike and ride around the area. We did a safari through a driver that our host recommended and it was amazing. I would highly recommend Black Panther to anyone!
