The beach is yours, with a few village kids playing cricket and ladies taking their sunset walk in their colorful sarees.🥻 The water is clear, warm, and shallow enough for kids to play without worrying about deep water pockets like in North Goa. The bungalows, 10 steps from the beach, are nothing fancy, but they give you the island charm feeling. You have hot water, a mosquito net, and a strong fan, but with the island breeze and the sounds of the crashing waves, the fan is a distraction. There is a separate kitchen if you want to cook or place stuff in the refrigerator, a washer machine, and free wifi. Best of all, Poonam, Pritesh's wife, cooks authentic regional foods if you prefer not to cook yourself for an incredibly affordable price. It would cost you more to buy it yourself and make it. Pritesh also offers tips on places to see, and if you would like to go out to sea or have him as a guide, that too can be arranged, again at a very affordable fee. Prafulla is what Goa was before the hotels and tourists took over. Again, this is a quiet place with a very laid-back attitude. I spent my mornings slow, worked in the afternoon on my computer, swam, then watched the sunset before dinner with occasional trips to other beaches and markets. Parulla is Island Living.

First, the property is in Coorg's mystical forest-like plantation guest building on a stunning hillside. Mine was the third-level corner room with picture windows opening into the forest treeline view on two sides. It also had a surrounding balcony wrapping the room that hung over the plantation tree lines. You get the feel of living amidst a tree house in a forest. At nights- I closed only the balcony screen door- and slept amidst the buzzing sounds of the night forest from a comfy bed. More amazing was the impeccable service and hospitality of manager/owner Mr. Ginasuddin, his team, and his staff. Mr. Ginasuddin is very helpful person. I am traveling to India for a few weeks. Once I contracted the property and ask for what to do and how. He offered help. It started from pickup to drop-off from Bangalore right after my Friday afternoon meeting from DSI for the three-day getaway. Mr. Rasheed drove me around all the Coorg sites non-stop. For the Naghorhole Tiger Camp visit, he came and picked me up at 4:30 a.m. and drove me through the forests for a 7:30 a.m. tiger safari. He is a master driver with deep knowledge of the area and attractions- and, more importantly, the mountain roads that has blind sharp turns in every few hundred meters. The property served a fresh buffet breakfast. Dinners were made to order from the menu. All are reasonably priced. One day, I picked up irresistible local fern vegetables (see picture) from a local village seller. The cook prepared it to perfection for dinner. This is a remarkable home-stay by all counts.

The hygiene standards were fully met in my opinion. I had a working shower with hot water, as well as both a fan and AC. The guesthouse also offers a fantastic view over Hampi. You can watch all the people on their way to the temple and are right there whenever something exciting happens. I was also able to have my laundry done, which was very practical for me as a solo traveler. The host family and all the staff members were always very friendly and professional. I felt very well taken care of and would absolutely come back anytime. I would also like to highly recommend Jilan as an excellent tour guide. He gives you plenty of time and allows you to fully enjoy the surroundings of Hampi. If you have the capacity and the extra budget, I can absolutely recommend booking a tour with him.
