The atmosphere is wonderful, in the middle of a forest, calmness, silence, beautiful starry nights, jungle sounds. The lodge has everything you need, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, good wifi, everything is clean. It is very close, about a 20 minutes drive to Volcanoes National Park. I highly recommend to stay here if you visit Big Island. The hosts are so kind and helpful they really put their hearts and mind into this little lodge. Excellent communications with the host. We all enjoyed the hot tub on the deck.

Do not stay here. If you do... Well, I might have a harder time getting a room and/or paying more. So, yeah, definitely do not stay here. 😉

This 3-star bed and breakfast offers private entrance. Spacious with everything I needed provided in the room and parking just outside my room. Super convenient, and breakfast was plentiful.

University Of Hawaii, Hilo is 43 km from Chalet Kilauea, while The Pacific Tsunami Museum is 45 km away. Hilo International Airport is 43 km from the property. Check in was easy, we arrived at night and had no trouble reaching the property. The room was amazing, very spacious with even a small kitchen, and wonderful bathroom with a cave-style double shower. In the middle of the lush green surroundings, it was the best stay of our whole trip.

Rainbow Falls is 34 km from the holiday home and Lava Tree State Park is 37 km away. We were surrounded by animals, frogs singing at night, peacocks coming during the day, flowers and plants were like in the forest. This place is magical :) It was only a bit cold to shower outside since it’s September, but it was not a problem for us. Outside bathroom was interesting and had a great view.
