This was possibly the most relaxing break ever.
This was possibly the most relaxing break ever. There is little else here except the fabulous Hotel Linde (and Vivamayr - a detox hotel where celebrities go). The situation right on the lake meant stunning views from the breakfast room and terrace; from the Seebar (Lakeside Bar and Restaurant); and from our balcony. Swimming in the clear water of the lake is a must. The food is exceptional with sushi and sashimi a speciality. The staff too are exceptional and couldn't do enough for us. A two-minute walk brings you to the landing stage of the ferries which ply up and down the lake during the day offering a hop on hop off service for 19 euros per person. Since we were staying at the hotel for 4 nights we got a 50% discount. For Gustav Mahler fans, another must is a visit to his composing hut, where a very knowledgeable curator will give you a detailed history in German or English.
