Rooms were great, very comfortable and spacious. Hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the train station, and 10 minute walk from the supermarket. Schönis has a very nice and relaxing Spa with 3 different saunas, a “quiet room”, apples, tea, and everything needed to unwind. Would definitely stay here again☺️

Such a charming cottage! It's a separate bedroom and kitchen, all beautify decorated. Bianca is a wonderful host. We laughed as we got through our language barrier through Google. She does speak enough basic English though. We arrived on a day the restaurants we're closed but there is a wonderful market a few steps away. We were so happy to have found this.     I recommend the '6-Seen-Wanderung' tour on the Tauplitzalm to everyone. Beautiful! The braver ones can take a dip in the cool lakes. Nearby is Hallstadt's iconic lake with its church. Mozart's birthplace - Salzburg can also be discovered within easy reach. I recommend the sightseeing boat tour to everyone. In Bad Aussee, the salt bath of the Narzissen Vital Resort provides real refreshment. It is a very special experience to hide in the coolness of one of the salt mines in the heat. I also recommend the special library of Admont Benedictus Abbey. Also, for fathers with sons, the Lotus Museum in Bad Aussee.

    It's the 5th or 6th stay in Bad Mittendorf in the skyying...

    It's the 5th or 6th stay in Bad Mittendorf in the skyying season. Hope that global warming will not ruin the crosscountry skiing because Bad Mittendorf area is ideal for that with its many loipe which are well managed. However, this winter we were unlucky with snow but local people put lots of effort the maintain at least one loipe available down. There is an option always to go to the top of the mountains the loipe there is always excellently working. The town is nice, supermarkets are avalilable. If you want you can go to the swimming facility with hot spa and lots of possibilities. Good place with children, too. I warmly recommend the place. We love it.

    Very cool town half an hour drive from Hallstatt.

    Very cool town half an hour drive from Hallstatt. The center is tiny but very beautiful. In the central park there is a gazebo with pine essential oils. Near the town there is a ski resort Tauplitz, where you can drive a car along a serpentine. The town often smells of cow dung, I don't know why. In principle, this did not scare me, I am a city dweller, and such smells are unusual for me.

    Bad Mitterndorf is a lovely little town in the Salzkammergut. It's connected to the train line (albeit the train only comes every 2 hours) but it takes you to all the surrounding areas like Hallstatt, Bad Aussee, etc.. There are lovely places to go hiking directly in Bad Mitterndorf (go to Singerhauserhütte for a cozy and delicious lunch). It's the perfect place to get away from it all, enjoy nature, and to feed your soul! Dinner at Nanu is a must!

    Summer: If you're willing to drive 1-1.5 hours to reach...

    Summer: If you're willing to drive 1-1.5 hours to reach hiking destinations, then Bad Mitterndorf is a good base from which to do so (there is relatively little that is nearer than ~40 minutes, but the Schladming are, Totes Gebirge, Dachstein, Gesäuse and parts of the Salzkammergut are accessible). Shopping for food is not a problem (Spar and Billa are present in Bad Mitterndorf; a Hofer is ~10-15 minutes away by car). Pharmacy present. Not much of a "downtown" but what there is is pleasant enough. You can also go for small walks in the woods around the village.

    We decided to stay in Bad Mitterndorf because it was somehow near the places we wanted to visit on our vacantion. We went to Hallstatt, 5 fingers, stairway to nothingness, dachstein gletscher, eisriesenwelt. We found our way around using waze ! We enjoyed very much our stay In Bad Mitterndorf !

    Nice, cozy apartment located in holiday apartment building. Well-equipped kitchen. Free parking space. Balcony with amazing view for mountains and Bad Mitterndorf. A very useful awning on a sunny days. Supermarket (Billa) is located about 15min be walk or 3min by car. Very good location if you are going to visit Hallstat, mountains lakes, Dachstein, Salzburg and other close location. Good contact with owner.

    Karina was an exceptional hostess and went out of her way to assist and accommodate us. We are very thankful for her kindness during our stay. We thought we were closer to Hallstatt but after going into town we were thankful for being further away and also loved experiencing an authentic Austrian location.

    Very good location for various skiing options - Tauplitz 2 km, Riesneralm and Planneralm 25 km, Loser 25 km. So you can change skiing destination per weather and snow conditions :) Additionally - sauna in the basement is perfect for evening relaxation. In the same city you can visit GrimmingTherme.
