Great little coastal town. Watch out for the windy weather - can make the beach a bit of a no go. Good nightly entertainment options. Including buskers. Great options and quality of food. Low-key vibe to the area and town. Not at all built up, considering it is a popular destination. Loads of great restaurants, accommodation and shops to choose from. Recommend using Byron Bay kayaks for watching the whales and dolphins, a highlight of my trip! Went to Bang Bang restaurant (Asian sharing - good food but noisy) and the Treehouse (great food). A beautiful bay nestled in the coast line. Lives up to its description of being picturesque. The lighthouse was worthy of a tour and the guide very informative and interesting. Would suggest staying slightly south at Lennox Head, or staying on the Gold Coast and making the one hour drive as a day trip. There is some nice drives in the Hinterland, but Byron Bay itself doesn't live up to expectations. It's really just commercial shops (the same in any other cities) and a beach, but charges way more than all the other beautiful beach towns not far away that have more character.Guest review byKellyAustralia

We got our own bathroom and the staff were friendly and informative. There was a shared kitchen, which is helpful especially for preparing breakfast in the morning. The facilities were modern and well kept, and there was a calm, leafy vibe about the place. We rented surfboards for a small price for half a day, which we walked down to the beach.
