Mount Gambier is one of our fav destination for a short crisp getaway. The Blue Lake is the star attraction- a crater lake that changes to a striking cobalt blue in summer and shifts to a steel grey in winter. Standing at the lookouts, the colour really does look unreal. Just minutes away are the Valley Lake, Centenary Tower, and several crater reserves that offer walking trails, picnic spots, and panoramic views. Another highlight is Umpherston Sinkhole, also known as the Sunken Garden. It’s a giant collapsed cave transformed into a lush, terraced garden filled with flowers and greenery. If you’re more into scenic drives, the nearby Coonawarra wine region and Robe’s coastal charm are easy day trips. A beautiful blend of volcanic landscapes, gardens, and regional charm. An old city with beautiful architecture but all of the modern shopping & food options. Lots to see and do, lakes, caves, sinkholes, lookouts, hikes.
