Great area for wine lovers.
Great area for wine lovers. There are numerous vineyards & even some breweries to keep you occupied long past a weekend. Lots of hotel options, tiny homes, air b n b etc to suit many budgets. So much open space and its lush greenery is beautiful. Easy enough to get around if you have a car or many wine tours available. We went hot air ballooning with Balloon Aloft & they were very very good highly recommend. Singleton Indian restaurant is also phenomenal if you like Indian food. Great location, full house facilities and a nice stay. The only downfall was that the store was out of order and was not advised prior to arrival which we needed for our grand children’s towels and clothes . Never a let down. Love the Saturday markets and chocolate factory.We only buy our honey from the markets from Locals plus many more goodies. Wineries visited: Latitude 32, Ridgeview, Keith Tulloch, Winmark. All very good, especially if you are a Chardonnay lover. Latitude 32 and Ridgeview are very friendly and relaxed and great for beginners. Keith Tulloch and Winmark have some seriously good (international standard) , up-market wines that will please the experienced wine lover. Lunched at: Harvest Restaurant at Ridgeview Winery. Great service, lovely view, good food and wine. Can personally recommend the risotto with lobster tail and my lamb-loving friend really enjoyed the lamb shoulder. As well as tasting some fabulous wines, we went for a good walk around the large sculpture garden at Winmark, which is a bit of a drive from Pokolbin, out at Broke. The area is absolutely fantastic due to all the wineries and other activities to do in the area. The wineries are absolutely fabulous as is the wine. Pokolbin is a very beautiful area with the scenery, animal and birdlife and I could have stayed for a week but I was with family and they only had the weekend due to work. We visited Amelia's on the Edge and Yellow Billy for dinner and lunch and they were both excellent restaurants that I would highly recommend.The food was amazing, well presented and a gastronomical adventure where the flavours were very exciting. The staff in every venue we visited were absolutely fantastic and all genuinely happy to be working in their respective roles. All were very hospitable and all were smiling and couldn't do enough to make our time at each venue a happy one. I was visiting from Perth and I will definitely be returning to Pokolbin as there is so much to do and see but more time is needed. Loved the variety of things to do in Pokolbin. great selection of wineries nearby! Also, bike hire, shopping, the HV gardens, Cheese factory, Chocolate factory, motorbike/trike tours, etc., so there are also plenty of things to do if you aren't a drinker! Loved the beautiful landscapes and natural wildlife everywhere - kangaroos will frequently appear and stand, watching you while you take pictures. The property is located in a beautiful part of Hunter Valley, surrounded by wineries. We had the most wonderful stay, too short as we only stayed for 1 night.
