The Queen of the Belgian Sea-side Resorts
Located in the Flemish province of West Flanders, the city of Ostend (or Oostende) is the biggest on the Belgian coast. This cosmopolitan seaside resort has long sandy beaches, a modern harbour and magnificent fish restaurants.
Built in September 1905 in the presence of King Leopold II, the imposing Roman Catholic Neo-Gothic church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is the symbol of Oostende. Housed in a former department store built by Gaston Eysselinck, Ostend's Museum of Modern Art has an interesting collection of contemporary Belgian works.
The Oostende Railway Station is a gorgeous building between the Marina and the Vissers Kaai, featuring classical style architecture. Leaving the railway station you will find a stunning fishing market with numerous fish stands selling mussels, crabs and herrings.
Wander around the promenade and visit one of the traditional restaurants to enjoy Dover Sole, shrimp croquettes and tomatoes filled with shrimps. Booking.com has lots of hotels, apartments and holiday homes by the North Sea.

Nice places to visit in the city, plenty of restaurants and shops. Sea side is very good and well maintained, very clean. Easy to move around, Tram and train station, all usable with your bank card. Usually plenty of carpark places all over the city. We drove around from here to other city's like Bruge and Ghent and it was fast and it is amazing how they kept the speed limits quite high even in the city. Well done Belgium.Guest review byV - 6.0

Great town for families, with lots of pedestrianised areas, little traffic, and lots of sandy beaches that are never busy. Cheaper than Knokke or Bruges, Ostend is also a perfect base for exploring Flanders, with everything within a short drive or train journey and nice beaches on your doorstep for the days you don't feel like exploring.Guest review byAlbertUnited Kingdom

The proprietor (Kay) went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed all Ostend has to offer. After drinks at the Tea Room and great restaurant recommendations, we retired to our modern, clean, and comfortable room for a great nights sleep.
