It is a magical remote location situated in an amazing forest.Clean, fresh air and beautiful forest of tall pine trees. Very well maintained and cute surroundings. It is not exactly a village but a remote location with few mountain hotels .Perfect for hiking to the Seven Rilla Lakes or other less difficult hikes.You need a car for sure but there are also buses from Sofia passing through.The lift is far for a walking distance .It is around 6.5 km from there.Guest review byJulienFrance - 8.0

Very friendly and helpful staff, great car parking, comfortable bed, good wifi, nice swimming pool (a little on the small side). Very good breakfast with a good choice of different options. On the down side, no lift, no air-conditioning and a little deceptive to mention that the Rila Monastery was about 16km away...not CLEARLY mentioning that this is in a straight line. Skakavica hut has a marevelous location. The path marking on the way needs imorovenent. The hut has started renovating the building, but has still a long way to go. The rooms and corridors are very old style. The service and guardians are nice though.Guest review byAntonSwitzerland

The breakfast is fantastic and we enjoyed dining in the restaurant in the evenings too. It's located right next to an info centre where you can learn more about the local area and ask for recommendations for walking/hiking and other areas of interest (we visited in Summer, rather than ski season). The owner speaks perfect English & was chatty & proud of the amazing hotel he has built. The attention to detail was incredible. The young waiting staff were attentive & also spoke perfect English, the food was delicious & the owner even lit the petchka (log burner) to take away the chill (late August, lol) & more importantly to dry roast some complimentary peanuts for his guests.
