It is an amazing quiet place in the mountain.
It is an amazing quiet place in the mountain. I like visiting in the summer because of the views and hiking opportunities. I prefer staying in areas like Smolyan Lakes rather than the town or Pamporovo as I like to be far from people. There are a lot of hikes and places to visit (with car, short hikes and long ones). It was not my first time in Smolyan but my first time coming...
It was not my first time in Smolyan but my first time coming here alone. I have been mostly in warmer months but I have enjoyed some nice weather as well - I managed to do some proper hiking - going to the Nevyastata area and to the Waterfalls Canyon, as well as exploring the Old Town and the New City center. I should confess that the length of the town is quite challenging even for a person who enjoys walking. I had to take a taxi to go to the Nevyastata but I walked back and it took me more than 2 hours. It was worth it though. We had a very big and comfortable bed and a nice view to the bridge from the balcony. There is also the restaurant, though we arrived late evening and the kitchen was already closed but we could drink the special made for the restaurant wine, which was very good. The waiter, Mark, was very friendly and polite and was telling us about the wine from the restaurant and in general about the city Smoljan.
