It was more hilly than expected .

It was more hilly than expected . Traffic was never busy and moved well . However, too may pot holes on Hwy 63 so hard on the car if not careful. The downtown area was laid back and easy to drive. Peter Pond Mall was okay. Also liked McDonald Island and going to the Giant's game . The stadium was nice. Canada Day Parade was enjoyable for families.

As I walked through the town hall I found that the colonial government has renamed mayor to Okimau. Which is a Cree word for leader. Just stay Mayor if you are a mayor. This is a colonial defacto government that downloads crown mandates to its people and is a democracy in word only. I also found the treatment of most of the employees in restaurants were subsidized by the tax payers and they would only employ one Canadian so that no one can say they don't employ Canadians. Fort McMurray is very pretty and could really be something if there was not so much down pressure on the poor and working class.

    The staff are excellent.

The staff are excellent. I have stayed here before when they did not allow pets. I had to start travelling with my elderly cat so I was staying at another hotel. They implemented a pet policy and I returned and was now told I had to stay on the first floor. Early evening refugees were booked into the rooms all around me. Crying, baby, yelling, child, and men that went in and out in and out of their rooms. I complained in the morning and was moved down the hall to a corner room this room had no working air conditioner and my cat and I were subjected to 25 to 27 Celsius . The machine on the side of the building kept me awake the entire night. the traffic if I tried to open the window to get some cool air was horrendous with noise. I was incredibly disappointed as I had planned to return for two more days this year, but sadly will not be returning unless they allow my Cat and I to move to the top floor where hopefully we do not have noisy refugees

I love fort mac, I grew up there and have family here. ill always come back, but I will be more careful where I stay next time. I never had a horrible experience like we did on our stay here. We went up for work and spent more time changing room all day. crazy

Very bright and clean. The areas were very well kept. Travel was easy and the city very pleasant to drive around in. The city has changed very much after the Fire in 2016. Sure was a very clean and well groomed.

Home to Oil Sands Discovery Centre explaining the history of the sands and their development. Heritage Village contains a number of vintage buildings including the home of WW I flying ace Wilfred "Wop" May. McDonald Island Park is home to a leisure centre and an Aboriginal Interpretive Trail featuring art installations by a number of Indigenous and Metis artists, and is also a good nature walk next to the Athabasca River. Mitchell's Cafe is a local institution, and recommended for take-out sandwiches and light meals. "Fort Mac" is also a good base for exploring such nearby attractions as the Syncrude "Giants of Mining" exhibit and Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

This hotel is convenient for us to stay in Ft. McMurray as it is a short distance to our son's home. We like the price for the room and, though it is an older property, it is very well maintained. We like the continental breakfast which is included and the coffee is quite good. We have stayed here at various times through the year and have always felt it was good value for the price charged.
