We loved our stay at Chira glamping. It exceeded our expectations. Amazing facilities, comfortable bed, incredible views and so peaceful and relaxing. Great products in the room as well. Everything was so clean and we were really well looked after by Douglas. Breakfast was also lovely.

Hotel is like a big green tropical garden, with lots of flowers , animals, birds , a wild slot ( who shows up regularly ) , rooms are cosy and bed and pillows were high quality . Staff is highly professional , breakfast is good and receptionist helped us organising trips and helped us choosing the right trip for our interrests. Reception also gave us precious help and solved a major problem where spanish speaking was needed. We highly recommend this place .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived and had a wonderful lunch looking over the beautiful view, to the farm tour, then a dip in the jacuzzi, then more great food :). The staff was very accommodating for every request. We took a driver to the Cloud Forest and Curi Cancha… both fantastic experiences!

If you like cooler temperatures, rainy & windy mountains in...

If you like cooler temperatures, rainy & windy mountains in remote Costa Rica then this is for you. Its a unique experience to be that high up above sea level and theres plenty to do outside between coffee tours, ziplines & hikes. But in terms of the town itself, theres not a lot going on and its expensive but I guess thats what you pay for tranquility & remoteness. And if you're driving up there you better have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle because the majority of the roads up here are unpaved & windy AF. Spots to check out that made our trip: Don Juan Coffee Farm, the Butterfly Sanctuary, El Tigre Waterfalls, Kinkajou Night walk, 100% Aventura Ziplines for the longest Zipline in Latin America & lastly tree climbing at Finca Modelo. If you want to try authentic Costa Rican food (because hello why not!) skip out on the expensive restaurants and go to Pizzeria 3R y el Sazón de Mary - best part is that they're open late. Food was bomb! Overall, I wouldn't spend more than 2.5 days up here.

4-wheel drive recommended, but not essential. My six-year old particularly enjoyed the animal experiences: sloths, frogs, snakes and butterflies at the Selvatura Adventure Park (which was expensive but worth it - very knowledgeable guides) and also the Bat Jungle. My favourite experience was walking the trails in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve - very well marked and options for different levels of ability.

Loved the adventure parks (selvatura sloth rescue is a must!

Loved the adventure parks (selvatura sloth rescue is a must!) and area restaurants Bon appetit and taco taco. Chocolate and coffee tour also worthwhile. Night tours more insect and reptile focused than in other areas. Roads in the area are very narrow and twisty, hard for motion sickness travellers.

Great place for hikers.

Great place for hikers. Unfortunately most places you have to pay to enter and it's not cheap. But there are a few free places you can walk if you do your research. There is loads of stuff to do for everyone. Families and adventure junkies.

If you love the outdoors, go to Monteverde.

If you love the outdoors, go to Monteverde. We did a coffee/sugarcane/chocolate tour, a wildlife refuge tour, night time nature walk, zip lining, and a sloth experience. There were lots of different restaurants and we loved all of the ones we visited.

I stayed 5 nights in Monteverde because I was chasing...

I stayed 5 nights in Monteverde because I was chasing Quetzals. I stayed couple of nights right inside the Monteverde reserve and that was great as I could be the first person in the reserve. The Quetzals were nesting around March 23rd and I saw them everyday. I also like Selvatura ziplining and Hanging bridges (a quetzal pair was nesting there too). I did not like Curi Cancha at all - waste of time as the forest is not pretty. Their birding guide (I paid for him at Curi Cancha itself) was subpar also and was showing us videos on his phone and basically not showing much wildlife. I would not recommend wasting time or money at Curi Cancha. Head to Monteverde or Santa Elena instead.

Hotel flor de bromelia were by far the most welcoming and loveliest hosts we had in Costa Rica! Sofia sent a welcome text with information pre-arrival and when we arrived sat down with us to give us loads of top tips and advice for staying in Monteverde. The breakfasts were unbelievable freshly cooked by Sofia’s mum. The room and the view cannot be faulted! Great shower perfect little kitchen with welcome drinks! Outstanding hosts with so much kindness! Thankyou ❤️

We loved being surrounded by nature , trying to spot all the forests little critters. The hosts live on the property and are very friendly and are quick to offer up suggestions or any help we needed. The living room and kitchen area was plenty big enough for our group of 5 to relax at the end of the day. Just a short drive to town . Restaurant in a hotel across the street if you did want food. We would absolutely return if we stayed in monteverde again!

Nice small hotel nearby the Monteverde national park. Staff was really helpful and supportive. Good breakfast for its value. Not a big room, but with everything to spend a day or two. The view from the dining room is not so stunning as shown on photos, but still good. A lot of things to eat/do/visit nearby. Perfect value for its money.

Absolutely loved this place - very peaceful and green. The hotel terrace is facing the forest and there are many animals coming close: I saw racoons, agouti and many different birds. Ernesto was super helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my time in Monteverde!
