A Land of Light and Love

Located on the Mediterranean coast of Cyprus, the beautiful city of Paphos is according to mythology the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. Rich in culture and history, this popular destination features Blue Flag beaches, stunning natural landscapes, gorgeous seaside hotels and golf courses.

Like a big open-air museum, Paphos is home to numerous UNESCO Heritage Sites including the House of Dionysos with its wonderful mosaics. The charming Paphos Castle is a stunning monument in the harbour of Kato Paphos.

Enjoy a relaxing walk around the promenade area of this cosmopolitan resort, savour local specialties by the water or visit the churches of Panagia Chrysopolitissa, Agios Georgios and Agioi Anargyroi. Known as Kouklia, the Old Paphos is set at the mouth of the Diarizos River.

The imposing Lighthouse is nearby the Odeon and can be reached through the Archaeological Park. Nature-lovers will not want to miss the lush Paphos Forest and Troodos Mountains, situated about 45 km from the city.

Just 6.5 km from the city centre, Paphos International Airport is the second biggest in Cyprus and offers flights to major cities like Athens, London, Moscow and Amman. Booking.com will help you find the right hotel, apartment, villa or resort in the lively city of Paphos.

An inviting city for tourists, clean, beautiful, authentic.

An inviting city for tourists, clean, beautiful, authentic. Prices for food, drinks, gifts are relatively reasonable for Israel. Public transportation is scarce and not very accessible, taxis are relatively expensive. It is better to rent a car at the airport, it will be cheaper, especially if the hotel is not in the center of Bohemia (port). Driving the opposite way is a little strange at first, but after a day you get used to it.

I was only 3 days, one of them I spent to visit local historical sites, second O was on the beach, and last one I took trip to local villages and winery. I likes mosaics at Historical Park, really worth to see. I was at Venus beach with also nice and clean. Trip wasn't too exiting but maybe I raised my expectations ).

The harbour area is very attractive and we enjoyed visiting the archaeological sites, especially the mosaics. None of the street names are clearly marked so ‘sat nav’ is essential! The authentic Cypriot food at 7 George’s Tavern is delicious and staff very friendly. It’s probably advisable to take a bus rather than drive to Limassol - we got stuck in a traffic jam and were unable to park the car - very busy even in October. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday but thought Paphos and Limassol are quite built up, which we didn’t expect and rather a lot of fly tipping everywhere. You need to visit the mountain villages to see traditional Cypriot buildings/dwellings.

It's a nice place, the people are very friendly, the bars offer Cypriot breakfast, which is worth having. There are not too many tourists in September, so it is pleasant to walk around the city. The only information about city buses could be written more transparently, the stations should also be marked in English, and it should also be clearly stated on the bus via loudspeaker or on a board which station we are approaching - many tourists are confused because this is not the case.

Paphos is a beautiful and compact location and everything is within easy reach. Hotels are good quality and the staff at Almyra Hotel were fantastic. The roads have been upgraded- no potholes. I would advise to hire a car : we used PafoRentals - Mr.Antonis and Mr.Tomasz - absolute gentleman - door to door service and good quality vehicles. Restaurants are very good and reasonably priced. I recommend the local ‘Greek mama’s kitchen’ eatery Kourides up in central Paphos.

Paphos isn’t the most “holiday-like” town – it has more of an industrial feel than a classic resort vibe. The harbour is pleasant with restaurants and shops. The beaches are mostly stony or pebbly, so you need to know where to go. Coral Bay and Coralia Bay are the most sandy, with plenty of sunbeds and bars right on the beach. If you’re after something a bit more unique, Olive Tree Beach is worth a visit. Overall, Paphos has some good spots, you just need to know how to find them.

Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 987 reviews
The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The breakfast did the job, simple but effective. The hotel is within easy reach of the beaches, many restaurants and bars, and the shopping mall/supermarket. The Old Town is only about a mile away. It is also next door to the Tombs of the Kings bus station, which in turn brings other areas within easy reach. The apartment is very spacious and big, as is the balcony. I was travelling solo, but this was more than enough space for two, if needed. Similarly, the bed was nice and big.

The hotel is well located, close to the Tombs of the Kings Bus station (2-3 euro ticket from airport instead of 35-40 euro for taxi), Tombs of the Kings archeological site and the Old town. I arrived at 2 am and the owners made sure I checked in independently with 0 issues. There's a small pool, in the room there's a kitchen, balcony, etc. Every other day they attempted to clean or give me more towels, no issues there, they worked hard. The best beach is in 15 min by foot (with WC, changing rooms, etc) and you can use it for free.

Excellent facilities with staff who are incredibly friendly, helpful and are very good at doing their different jobs. Hotel is well situated for getting to the Old Town and also the Harbour area (both about 35 mins walk or a short taxi ride). Excellent buffet breakfast. Highly recommended.
