Antequera is lovely. It's a walkable and friendly city. Te city has great places to visit, from ancient history to spectacular nature. El Torcal is a place not to be missed. Antequera is a white village of historic interest.
Antequera is a white village of historic interest. The is an alcazaba with great views over the town, which we visited. There are also pre-historic burial chambers which were closed as it was Sunday(I believe they are also closed on Mondays). The El Torcal national park is nearby but a car is needed to visit this. We had problems with our train journey to Antequera because we booked on Trainline which showed the only station we could get to as Santa Ana which is 11 miles outside the town. On arrival we then had to get a taxi into the town at a cost of over €35, however, had we booked with Renfe we would have seen that there are several connections a day from Santa-Ana to the train station at the bottom of the town, known as Antequera Av. On our return journey we got up early to go to catch a train from the local station but didn’t realise there are two stations, an old disused one with a cafe and a new one about 150m away. We went to the old one and had a coffee and tried rushing to the new one when we realised but missed our train, then had a five hour wait for the next train and had to buy tickets for a second time, as instructed by the unsympathetic station manager.Guest review byDebbieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely old town, with some beautiful buildings and a spectacular hilltop castle. El Torcal national park is worth a visit, with amazing rock formations, though it does get very busy. It’s the only luxury option in the town and it does it really well. Beautiful views over the valley and mountains and a really peaceful retreat from the town. Art work around the hotel is lovely, hotel kept immaculately. Super easy to get into Malaga for either a trip to town or for flights. - there’s a bus / coach that leaves early and is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
