We booked our stay at Pórtico del Azahín very late in the day, and out of season, yet the hosts kindly let us stay and gave us the hostal to ourselves. It feels like a newly opened place – the entire interior and furniture are pristine, and the showers are spotless. The communal kitchen is fully equipped, and we were able to securely store our bicycles in the central open courtyard, which also has clotheslines. Everything you could need for a pilgrimage is here! Excellent all round – we would happily return.

After a three week tour of southern cities we wanted a quiet place in the country within easy reach of Seville Airport for the last couple of nights. Cazalla looked worth a try, and so it proved. An ordinary working town (not tourist-oriented) in fine green countryside, it was well worth exploring, its historic past just below the surface, and it's well-positioned to explore the surrounding landscape. Mari and her mum met us to show us (enthusiastically) the apartment which was ideal - clean, comfortable and well-equipped, including a very welcome washing machine. Secure off-street parking and a private patio (more useful outside winter no doubt) completed the package.

Location was great being in the old town. Everything a walk away. We wanted to get out to the mountains for a night and walking. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the area is and the apartment was brand new and warm. Hostess was really lovely and had her daughter on hand to translate!

A wonderful location to chill out after the hustle and bustle of Sevilla. It is also an excellent base for those who wish to cycle the beautiful Via Verde de la Sierra Norte de Sevilla. Bicycles can be hired from the hotel. Very peaceful.

    A quiet town, with at least 3 great restaurants : Agustina,...

    A quiet town, with at least 3 great restaurants : Agustina, Posada del Moro, and Meson La Bolera. Excellent locally produced food : cherry liqueur, organic olive oil, cheese, and of course the acorn-fed black pigs. Some good walks from town out into the local countryside. A number of interesting ancient buildings, but none open for visiting during our stay. Access from Sevilla by bus (1hour 40 @ €7)

    Cazalla de la Sierra is a beautiful town set on a hilltop. The Sierra Norte is a great area to explore walking. You must also cycle the Via Verde - you can hire bikes from a cycle shop at Constantina train station for just 10 euros per day. The mines are a must see too!

    Really nice open plan living space with all kitchen utensils you could need. We came for 2 nights from Seville so brought food with us. There is a small shop at the bike rental place too. Great location near the train station and perfect to cycle the greenway, which is what we did. Bed is also very comfortable. It was quite cold when we went but fire and blankets provided. In the summer the coolness is probably very welcome! Owner was really responsive and gave plenty of instructions.
