The area is very beautiful.
The area is very beautiful. I was surprised that few people outside of Asterius know the history and the sacredness of the area. Visits to the basilica and the sacred cave were emotionally moving. The town was incredibly busy during August.
The town was incredibly busy during August. It was challenging to find parking space, and the tourist bus to the glacial lakes was fully booked. The weather was warm (high 20s celcius) which was ideal. We enjoyed having dinner and Asturian cider at Restaurante Los Texos (ask the staff to pour the cider, don't do it yourself. It requires a specific method). In our next visit we will go when it is less busy, and book tickets in advance for local attractions.Guest review byNicolasNetherlands - 10.0

A really interesting area that was unexpectedly busy.
A really interesting area that was unexpectedly busy. This is a really popular spot for mainly Spanish tourism as far as I could tell. A cute tiny city with amazing views. 15-20 mins by bus to the famous Lagos de Covadonga (lakes). I recommend taking bus as the roads are narrow and might be difficult to drive. There are restaurants, hotels and free parking. Ideal for those who want to visit Lagos de Covadonga. Also, there is a breathtaking church in the mountains.Guest review byKseniaSpain

It was the perfect spot to hike in Lagos the Covadonga and other treks nearby. The staff was very attentive and gave us great advice concerning the Lakes, where to eat, etc. As for the room, it was clean, quite big and new.
