Where we stayed the beach was great. The promenade is long and has a cycle path throughout. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Four in particular stood out: 1. Bodega Patio Salao, 2. Roquetas de Mar is a charming place that remains relatively undiscovered compared to other more crowded destinations. It has a wonderful local vibe, with many residents still enjoying the area’s authentic atmosphere. While it can get busy during the summer months, it never feels overcrowded like other popular spots. The tapas are absolutely delicious, and the local people are warm and welcoming. The sea is clean and warm (most of the summer). Area was quiet and peaceful. We went at the end of the season but it seemed more tranquil than similar places we had visited.. It was also more 'Spanish'.and less full of UK tourists. Resort was clean and well maintained. Good local bus service. The city of Almeria was beautiful and well worth at least one visit. Beaches are wide and quiet with a wide promenade and separate cycle tracks.
