A Busy Port Town with a Charming and Laid Back City Centre
The port town of Vigo is nestled off the pristine waters of Ria de Vigo and its famous Port of Vigo is the biggest and busiest fishing port in the world; However, beyond the port are the old narrow streets of the old town around Rua dos Cesteiros, and monuments such as Nosa Señora da Guía Shrine and Santa María Collegiate Church.

Vigo seems to me like an attractive port city.
Vigo seems to me like an attractive port city. Beautiful views of the harbor. Pleasant walks through the narrow streets of the old town. I would recommend visiting the Cíes Islands and enjoying their charming beaches. People here are hospitable. I did miss breakfast a little — the breakfast culture here is different. However, the variety of juicy fruits was delightful. Cons: I couldn’t manage to get a taxi, neither through the app nor WhatsApp — it kept showing that no taxis were available. Fantastic atmosphere of the city, excellent cuisine. I didn't know Galicia had such good cuisine and perfectly cooked seafood. I think I've eaten the best in my life there. 😅 We will definitely return to this place. It is more valuable to us than the south of Spain. Can’t believe I navigated my self through Vigo but with google maps ( I’m pretty useless) found the hotel . Was a big celebration going on victory over the French in 1806 . Which added to the charm. Massive port and city but very likeable. Room was spacious , twin beds , lovely hot shower . Fridge in room . Lots of bars and restaurants near by .The road out to rejoin the Camino was easy to find . Staff very helpful and spoke good English . The hotel bar was cheaper than anywhere else we stopped for drinks and made it a pleasant end to busy days sightseeing. It's probably fair to say the room could do with a bit of an upgrade but it was still comfortable and was made up every day. Breakfast was basic but fresh and plentiful and therefore worth 8€. As we had a car we paid €18 to use the hotel parking facility which was worth it. Our original booked room was not front facing so paid a €10 upgrade which was worth it as the views are amazing!
