We arrived in Beaune at 5pm on day 1 and stayed there for 3 nights, Day 2 we did a morning wine tasting in and spent the rest of the day in Dijon. Beaune is the heart of France's beautiful, wine-centric Burgundy region. It's a good base for exploring the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and has lots of restaurants, tasting rooms and wine shops. If you don't want to rent a car, you can rent bikes or walk to just about everything in town. We had an exceptional dinner at Soul Kitchen (make a reservation; there are only 12 seats) and also at La Ciboulette. Breakfast was good, as we're the morning staff. When I asked for a map of Beaune on arrival, I was directed to a rack of tourist leaflets, none of which were helpful!. The following morning when I asked for a map of Beaune, I was given one immediately by a very pleasant receptionist. I could not get an Internet connection in my room. We loved the common room area where we socialized and spoke with them and other guests too. For budget hotels, they are always very well equipped and comfortable. But I think The Ibis Beaune is the best of them. The staff were lovely and very helpful (especially Georgia). The room was spacious and very cleverly laid out. Breakfast was very good and there was lots of free parking.
