This is an old building that has some nice modern touches, the bed was so big I needed a passport to travel to see the wife. Would defo stay again Private parking was good but a little tight for a larger car, but very secure so happy days

The room was so clean and tidy. Benoit the manager was really friendly and kind I felt really comfortable to be at the hotel. The location is perfect right in the center of town you can walk everywhere very easily. I highly recommend this hotel to other travelers!

The hotel is good value for money, the staff are friendly and helpful. It was the third time I have stayed there and I’m booked in again for the 5th January 2025. It is located about 10 minutes from the Eurotunnel which is very convenient.

I don’t like anything. I was going to complain to you when I get back to the UK because even the shower is broken. I have a photo and no hand wash it was called heating. It was not very good at all. We was feeling cold very poor breakfast. I am not happy.

My favourite stay at Calais. I am a dog owner and this hotel is extremely comfortable if you travel with dogs. Ask for a room on the groundfloor and you can go in and out directly from the room without passing the main entrance all the time. You can park your car practically in front of the room. In autumn and winter you can walk your dog on the beach which is a few metres away. Last time we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was excellent. I also like how the restaurant/breakfast room is layed out. There is a lot of space between the tables and last time we could bring our two dogs to the restaurant in the evening. Good value for money.

    There are plenty of good restarurants with excellent food and lively bars. Bar Macao, Family Pub and The Home were excellent bars with a good range of beers. Enjoyed an excellent meal at Au Vieux Fourneau. In fact every meal we had was delicious with fresh fish or meat and vegetables. All added to an enjoyable stay

    It was an overnight stay on way home to the UK. But would have been happy to stay a couple of days. I have been to Calais many times and it is nice to see the changes that are happening the beach is lovely.

    The promenade of Calais is truly superb with a multitude of...

    The promenade of Calais is truly superb with a multitude of amusements for kids and adolescents alike. The mile-long promenade has swings, roundabouts, separate skate parks for toddlers and adults, various climbing frames, various ball courts, etc. and the best thing is that it is all free of charge! For the price of a couple of ice-creams you can be sure that your child or adolescent is fully occupied for the whole of the holiday. My husband and I are retired and were therefore content to sit on one of the comfortable lounge seats and 'people watch' as well as look out to sea. We did not have time to go into the town, as it was only an overnight stop on the way to the Euroshuttle, but plan to go back to spend a few days holiday.

    I have always been interested in the history of Calais, and...

    I have always been interested in the history of Calais, and I like its historic buildings. The area to the south of Calais is marvellous - the glorious Cote d'opale with its lovely towns/villages such as Escalles, Wissant (my favourite!) and Wimereux. It is also easy to reach places such as Ardres, Guines and Boulogne. i have always liked northern France.

    Calais is very good visit .Beach ,City Hall and gardens .parks and gardens very well kept .bus services excellent good market .big choice of food outlets .good value . friendly locals, very good museums , clean, Fast train to Boulogne and slow bus back on scenic route ,cheap.

    Calais is no longer the place it used to be.

    Calais is no longer the place it used to be. Our favourite pub In the centre of the town, Au Calice closed down. It was the best pub to have hot and tasty food but it also had the best beers. We the British no longer support Calais because the French allowed illegal immigrants to use Calais as their start point to illegally cross the English Channel into Britain. You do not respect my country and you are dishonest, so we abandon you. The French betray UK after taking £500million from us to stop the migrants but instead, you helped them to enter Britain. The French cannot be trusted.

    We were concerned that the Hotel might be a bit "basic" for the price we paid, but we could not have been more wrong. The staff were extremely helpful and anxious to please and the place spotless. Whilst the main meal was simple but adequate, the breakfast was to die for, a complete range of breakfast goodies, from cranberries and hazelnuts to grilled bacon, scrambled eggs and freshly boiled eggs, incl. a variety of breads and cakes, meats and cheeses. Would recommend to anyone wanting a stay in Calais.

    I stayed at the Metropol Hotel in Calais from Saturday to Tuesday and had a really pleasant experience. The three receptionists on duty were incredibly friendly and helpful, making both me and my dog feel very welcome. The service was warm and professional, and they went out of their way to assist with any questions I had. Highly recommend for anyone traveling with a pet or just looking for a welcoming stay in Calais!

    The receptionist was incredible, super friendly and helpful in many ways. The room was all we needed, mostly you want to stay out of the hotel and enjoy Calais. The bar was small but packed with all kinds of welcoming drinks. And as the receptionist is also the bartender, it was a great service.

    On a Christmas shopping trip to Calais and Hotel Meurice was an absolute oasis in the middle of Calais. Very friendly staff, a lovely old fashioned French hotel, good bar and within walking distance to the many bars and restaurants Calais has to offer. Will definitely stay again.
