Gordes is very pretty but does get quite busy with visitors.
Gordes is very pretty but does get quite busy with visitors. Some of the other villages nearby are also lovely and much less crowded - for example Oppede le Vieux, Menerbes and Venasque. A Beautiful historic hilltop village.
A Beautiful historic hilltop village. Lots of payed parking available on top. It’s possible to walk up but we decided against it in the heat. The drive up is very scenic. If you're planning on driving here with a rental car please...
If you're planning on driving here with a rental car please be aware that it is extremely busy and the roads are incredibly narrow. My experienced driver was uncomfortable with parallel parking next to a precipitous drop The view that you often see in photos from the lookout near the village is beautiful but what you don't see are the lines of other people waiting to get the same shot. In short, it's incredibly touristy which does take away from the quaint ambiance I was looking for. We also visited Fontaine de Vancleur and found that village to be more manageable in terms of crowds, parking, and driving.Guest review byAnonymous

It’s only a 5 minute drive away in a small historic hamlet. Upon arrival the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The room was large and beautiful and the area outside was gorgeous. A standout was the breakfast. We have gluten/dairy allergies and both were catered for very well - again nothing too much trouble. Free parking within 2 min walk.
