The place is magical and very special.

The place is magical and very special. Enjoyed walking around the village and also on the grounds as well. The people there were very kind and welcoming. If staying on the island itself everything does close around 6-7pm and most of the tourists leave. This is a great time to go walking around taking photos and just enjoying the atmosphere. Most places don’t open the next morning til around 10-11am so don’t expect an early breakfast. Just an fyi, if you’re taking the train and the bussing system, you’ll have to walk across the bridge to the village on the other side. It took me 40 minutes(with luggage) to get to the bus stop. The Abbey itself is beautiful and it took me about 2 hrs to get through. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I look forward to returning one day with my family.

A must-see on the northern Normandy/ Brittany border.

A must-see on the northern Normandy/ Brittany border. Explore the twisty, narrow, steep streets. Step back in time with a visit to the abbey and enjoy delicious seafood- moules frites- overlooking the bay. Highly recommend

We arrived in late afternoon at hotel and toured island...

We arrived in late afternoon at hotel and toured island first in evening hours - great idea as less crowded and still light enough to wander the streets and alleys. Toured the abbey the next morning - around 11. Already getting crowded - should have started earlier. But well organized and flows well within the Abbey. Well worth the visit to see this unique and historic structure - magical.

A mesmerizing place that provides delights at every turn. This place is not recommended for people with mobility issues. Not only is it geared for people with the stamina to climb stairs and rather steep roads but the oppressive crowds make maneuvering, even for the able-bodied, difficult. Particularly avoid visiting in July and August, if you must gear your visit to the early morning or the evening when the tour bus crowds are away.

One of the most beautiful locations of the French seaside,...

One of the most beautiful locations of the French seaside, matched with one of the most spectacular Castle/Abby I have ever encountered. I would place this even with Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. If you drive to the hotel, avoid the initial parking lot and call ahead to receive the code for your stay. You will be able to park much closer to your hotel room.

Absolutely stunning place with a very special Angelic energy...

Absolutely stunning place with a very special Angelic energy. Would recommend everyone to go at least once in their life - however not very suitable for anyone with walking restrictions, buggies etc and at high season it is very busy. It is also expensive and everything closed down early on Sunday evening. However, it is well worth a visit as the views alone are breath taking.

One gets to stay on the island which in itself may not be a great idea because the views of the island are best from the shore. We wanted the experience so stayed here because on the island this was the best deal we could get. The room was comfortable and clean. There are stairs involved so be prepared for that. Our luggage was light luckily.

The Hotel was VERY (!) close to Le Mont Saint Michel - you can see it if you just walk about 100 m from the hotel. Furthermore we loved the breakfast - this was really great! And one more thing: you can use the shuttle busses that go to Le Mont Saint Michel for free and the bus station is directly at the other side of the street.

Hotel Mercure was excellent value for money, good food, nice restaurant, nice chain run Hotel. Excellent for 2 night stopover to visit Mont Saint Michel on driving tour through France. Secure parking and good restaurant. Shuttle bus opposite hotel to Mont Saint Michel - or a causeway of 2km if you fancy the walk, which we did!

Great location: in front of bus stop, near cafes. Has a parking in front of entrance. Breakfast not included in price, you need to order it additionally. If you are not taking breakfast, you can have croissants/coffee in brioche doree, which is only 50m from hotel.

The view of Mont St-Michel from the room is good. The location is best for walking to St-Michel as it is the nearest hotel to St-Michel and the shuttle service stops just outside the hotel. Parking is easy to get to.
