We arrived in late afternoon at hotel and toured island first in evening hours - great idea as less crowded and still light enough to wander the streets and alleys. Toured the abbey the next morning - around 11. Already getting crowded - should have started earlier. But well organized and flows well within the Abbey. A mesmerizing place that provides delights at every turn. This place is not recommended for people with mobility issues. Not only is it geared for people with the stamina to climb stairs and rather steep roads but the oppressive crowds make maneuvering, even for the able-bodied, difficult. One of the most beautiful locations of the French seaside, matched with one of the most spectacular Castle/Abby I have ever encountered. I would place this even with Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Absolutely stunning place with a very special Angelic energy. Would recommend everyone to go at least once in their life - however not very suitable for anyone with walking restrictions, buggies etc and at high season it is very busy. We only stayed a night, but that was enough to visit the abbey during a light and sound show in the evening. Dinner was at La Mère Poulard which was good but very expensive. There’s a reason why most visitors in summer camp in nearby areas and take the shuttle to MSM for day trips only. The restaurants on Le Mont Saint Michel do not take bookings, but because we were staying at the hotel we could book at their sister restaurant (which unfortunately tried to rip us off by adding an extra €101 on top of an already hefty bill). The view was amazing, the stop of the shuttle bus to the Mont-Saint-Michel is in front of the hotel doors. The breakfast was good, and the dinner was perfect! Many thanks to the hotel staff for the help with parking and with the luggage. Furthermore we loved the breakfast - this was really great!
