Loches is full of history and we learned a lot about Valois kings and queens, not to mention medieval brigands and characters. The Saturday market was great fun - and much larger than we expected. We only had a morning to look at the royal castle/town...
We only had a morning to look at the royal castle/town inside its walls. You really need a day if, like us, you are interested in historic buildings, and there was a lot elsewhere to see in the town which we know we missed. We shall have to return. Loches is the perfect little town with lots of history, cute shops and plenty of places to eat. It has a beautiful walk along the river and plenty of green spaces as well as the historic buildings and cobbled streets in the old town. The public car park infront of the hotel is very convenient, at no cost. The Hotel restaurant is also very recommendable.
