Poitiers was our chosen night stop as we drove North toward St Malo. We were there just for the night and left fairly soon after breakfast. We did manage to walk around the main town area after checking in that evening and it was full of interesting architecture. Futurescope was a big disapointment to all my family. who's ages ranged from 5 to 82 years. The queues were anything up to 2 hours, and what was then particularly galling. V I P visitors were able to jump the queue to lengthen your wait. Some of the rides/shows were good , but one reallity ride we went on was past it's sell by date with the motions harsh and bruising. Poitiers is a medieval small city with a great deal of ancient and medieval monuments extremely important in the French history. It has a University from 1431 and 30,000 students from France and abroad every year. It is quite cheap in comparison with many other French cities which is why I would go there again for a short holiday or break. There are many lovely boutiques with high quality garments, shoes and hats. A terrific selection of bars and restaurants was within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. Rooms were very comfortable and on-site parking was very convenient and reasonably priced.
