FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Ruins and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage site Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the Avon River overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-level Pulteney Weir and registered historic Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options include Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and brand-name stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath hotel, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

    We loved Bath.

We loved Bath. There is so much history there and in the surrounding areas. We were there for six days and found the city more enjoyable during the weekdays. The weekend was to crowded with tourists. Yes-I realize that we are tourists but you will have a nicer time if you can plan in a way that avoids them. I found it impossible to really see and enjoy the Roman Baths because of the large numbers of other people trying to do the same thing. The city is extremely walkable and the pedestrian only streets are amazing. Don’t miss a chance to go to Bath. You won’t regret it.

The main attractions are all within walking distance, and the free walking tour of Bath was informative and enjoyable. Many people were dressed in Jane Austen period clothing, as part of Bath’s annual celebration honouring Jane Austen, and that was a special treat to see!

Walking Bridgerton tour was exceptionally informative with a brilliant guide . P.S you do need to be able to walk up hill though as we lost at least one lady who couldn’t keep up . Pump house afternoon tea and Baths need a visit . The Jane Austin museum and tour also a very worthwhile visit . Ate at corkage and the scallop shell and both were great 👍

Bath is a very interesting city to visit with lots to occupy a visitor and plenty of good places to eat. It is easy to walk around and take in the Georgian splendour of the buildings. We ate at Casa de tapas and Cappadocia restaurants and both were great.

Beautiful hotel located not far from Bath city centre (15 min walk) with wonderful decorations and friendly, helpful staff. The spa was really enjoyable, especially the outside heated spa pool. The room was faultless and very decadent with a 4 poster bed to our surprise. Gorgeous marble bathroom with wooden features. The room had a lovely coffee machine which was great.

It was a very nice stay! My partner and I were in Bath for a short work visit, stayed in Apex hotel and had a lovely time there. The room was spatious and clean. I think, there were not many people at the hotel at the moment, we didn't hear any noises. We also visited spa and enjoyed it, was really quite and peaceful (winter travels are the best).
