Although this was a very last minute, one night only booking, and we didn't get to experience the full package right down to breakfast or dinner, the hotel 150% met our expectations. Room was spacious, clean with modern, also very clean bathroom. Couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely book The Ship Inn again should we find ourselves in the area.

A very comfortable stay in a clean and spacious room in the sweetest little town. Staff were all lovely and helpful. Being over the pub, there was the sound of a bit of chatter as the weather was lovely and people were outside, but it didn't disturb us at all, and settled reasonably early. An excellent continental breakfast. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay. Warm and friendly from the reception, check-in to the room temperature. It was a freezing night in SE Scotland, but the hotel and room were warm and cosy. The evening meal was lovely and well-priced. Breakfast was amazing, and a challenge to finish it all. It was an exceptional stay. Will return.

It’s located in a little fishing town, but I had plenty of room and that I was able to bring my bike into the little garden room overnight, so I didn’t have to worry about it being left in the car

    Borgue is rural so definitely need bikes or car to get around. However if you want to stay in the same place it’s perfect for walking, bird watching and just chilling out in the garden. Everyone is very friendly and the local borgue hotel is great for a refreshing drink and bar meal and they also welcome dogs in the bar. A very memorable hamlet inbetween kirkudbright and gatehouse of fleet.
