We were pleasantly surprised that despite the old building, the hotel was very warm and cosy inside. The rooms are very clean and well heated! New windows held the design of the old ones. Staff made you feel at home! Breakfast is delicious and more than enough! The location may seem remote from the town, but it is an advantage because the scenery is breathtaking. And when the weather is fine, you can sit outside and enjoy the views.

    Borgue is rural so definitely need bikes or car to get around. However if you want to stay in the same place it’s perfect for walking, bird watching and just chilling out in the garden. Everyone is very friendly and the local borgue hotel is great for a refreshing drink and bar meal and they also welcome dogs in the bar. A very memorable hamlet inbetween kirkudbright and gatehouse of fleet.
