The local co-op was well stocked and not far away for snacks and pop, and a I took the opportunity to seek guidance from a fellow shopper who steered us to the Pack Horse pub, https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/tyne-and-wear/pack-horse/ which gave us a good dinner. We didn't have time to visit Gibside on this trip, but I have been before, the chapel and gardens are well worth as visit.
