It was clear from the moment I walked into the Wheatsheaf that great care and effort had gone into creating a convivial welcoming atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and efficient and our room was warm, clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious with a good range of choices. Lovely inn with lots of character located in a pretty little village. Room comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Service exceptional. Meals delicious and they certainly don't skimp on portions! Carperby is a quaint village, the locals were extremely friendly & helpful. Quite a historical place. Always respect the Farmers land when walking the route to the Aysgarth Falls, keep your dogs on a lead (under control) so as not to frighten the sheep, lambs, cows & calves etc it’s absolutely stunning scenery. Carperby is a good centre for the Yorkshire Dales in general, with its interesting villages, "Herriot" locations, Aysgarth Falls, characterful pubs, scenery, Bolton Castle, Wensleydale Railway, and so on. It is fantastic value for money and the food in the restaurant is excellent. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area and Aysgarth Falls is within easy walking distance (less than a mile).
