We were in the middle of nowhere and needed to drive to get to places of interest and to eat out on an evening. We tried to use Uber but each time it stated no drivers in the area. I would not stay in this area again as there's nothing there

We found it very quiet on Saturday and Sunday evening , although a lot of the restaurants were either full or not open. We needed to book in advance. Note that quite a few restaurants & shops shut Mondays &Tuesdays ! Much nicer vibe when the shops were open.

Cockermouth is an unpretentious old Cumbrian market town...

Cockermouth is an unpretentious old Cumbrian market town brilliantly positioned for walking in the north lakes and an increasingly good variety of pubs, eateries, shops and galleries! It has the best lingerie boutique (!) and a plastic free shop, deli, best butchers and local cinema. But, be warned whilst I was in Cockermouth over New Year (30 Dec- 4 Jan), many of these venues were closed for the entirety of this festive period without advertising this on their websites and many of the eateries had stopped serving at about 8.30/9pm. Really recommend for eating the Trout Hotel and the Turkish restaurant Aspava and the Tithe tap bar. Not yet tried 41 Market Place and Fermento, but they are on my list for next time. Whilst I was on my own, the late operating hours of the Sainsbury and the Chinese take-away ‘Full-House’ saved me and was the freshest and best I have had in the UK for decades. There is also an Indian take-away next door to try next time.

Room was beautifully furnished and really well kept. Loved how easy the self check in was and communication via the messages was great. We found Cockermouth to be a lovely little place and although the weather limited how much we were able to explore, there was still a great amount of food options a great atmosphere in the evenings and it was all right on the doorstep of the hotel. We also really enjoyed the breakfast down at the cafe that was included.

We loved the tranquil, beautiful setting of this hotel. it had amazing views and was in a good location for us as we were able to walk along the River to Cockermouth. The food was fantastic, all homemade and cooked fresh, great sized portions for people with large appetites, you don’t leave hungry. The staff were helpful when we needed information. We would definitely stay again if we were to go back to the area

Beautiful apartment, everything is really well kept and it's clear to see no money has been spared in making it feel as good as possible. Not too far from areas such as keswick etc to go on your lake district adventure. Parking can be a little awkward but we managed to find a spot behind the apartment but do this at your own risk! The owner was really fast to reply to any questions we had regarding our stay as well

Genuinely friendly and helpful staff in the bar and restaurants. We ate dinner on two nights and the food was excellent, cooked perfectly and well presented. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel is very conveniently located within the town and there is ample parking.
