In my opinion, Delph is the best village in Saddleworth to...
In my opinion, Delph is the best village in Saddleworth to stay. It is easy walking distance along the Donkey track to Dobcross and Uppermill plus there are regular buses from outside the Co-op. There are lots of lovely walks around the viallge and good pubs too such as the White Lion and the Old Bell. I would also recommend The Original at Thurston Clough if you want to venture a little further. We have stayed in Delph before, a few years ago, but have always said we would stay again. A welcome return and still plenty going on, socially. A great base to visit other areas and not too far if you are walking, cycling, bus or in a car. Delph is a characterful village with everything you need - Co-op, coffee shops, wine bars, pubs, Indian restaurant, fish and chip (and pie) shop, Post Office, bus services, easy access to countryside. We had Sunday lunch at the White Lion which was good and reasonably priced. They have special offers pretty much every day and an over-60s menu.
