we had stayed at the hotel previously and enjoyed it so decided to return to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The only grips was that the window view I paid for was limited and to make the most of it we need to move furniture and the window wouldn’t stay open. It was a very hot day but much cooler night and if we could’ve opened the window we would’ve had a much better night sleep. Lovely town with good shopping.

We went to Dorking to do a bit of countryside walking.
We went to Dorking to do a bit of countryside walking. We started each walk form Box Hill visitors' centre. We followed the Juniper Trail which is a decent length with some rather steep sections. While those were a bit of a challenge, the uphill was not too long, so for an averagely fit person it's fine. We also tried the Stepping Stones trail, which is shorter than the Juniper one, but with steeper and longer downhill and uphill sections and a flat section alongside the river Mote. It's situated in a quiet, green area, yet very close to the main street and shops (Sainsbury's, Waitrose, book store, nice cafés). The accommodation is very well equipped, and James is an excellent host, always eager to offer assistance or suggestions for activities in the area.
