Fowey is well situated on the river and the boat trip round the harbour is interesting. Very nice shops and interesting old pubs. Best eating places to eat were Haverners, The Lugger and The Ship. But for non car users during our stay in early September, public transport seemed to be non existent and ferry to Megavissy was not sailing the whole week because of weather, Taxis to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project very expensive.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Fowey is a great place in good weather if you like boats and rivers and plenty of quaint and historical sites as well as individual shops and restaurants, pubs and cafes. It has a beach and boat trips and great walking trails on the coast path and river estuary. We loved being so close to amenities and the port not far...
We loved being so close to amenities and the port not far from our accommodation at Jackdaws, we also enjoyed walking to Readymoney Cove, it was so surreal. There are so many things to do, we weren’t short of attractions within and around Fowey, visiting Lahnydrock House, Mevagissy, and the very charming village of Mousehole. The cottage is clean, cozy, beautifully decorated, bright and airy and an absolute joy to stay in. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The added extra surprise is the outdoor decked area with amazing view over the harbour where you can sit and catch the rays with sun downers after a days exploring the lovely Fowey. We got a room upgrade when we checked in which was a lovely surprise! The staff were very helpful and recommended Sam's restaurant down in the village, which we had already booked a table for. The facilities are excellent, we used the games room and the indoor pool, could have been slightly warmer, but minor issue, and didn't take away from our fantastic stay! Had an outside seating area but no view, but as I said you were only a short walk from the local restaurants and pubs. Fowey is one of my favourite locations in Cornwall.
