Breathtakingly beautiful!
Breathtakingly beautiful! A joy to be walking in the hills, enjoying God’s outstanding creation! We stayed at the spectacular New Dungeon Ghyll and from there, we started our first wild camping adventure near Stickle Tarn as a married couple.Guest review byCarole - 10
Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District.
Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District. Plenty of places to stay or eat. The road is quite narrow in places which means it can be slow going at times (especially weekends) . Was spotless staff were friendly and helpful, with amazing views . Food was good our only problem was on last day breakfast we waited 25 mins and when it did come it was cold the day before was hot and plentiful. Beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful surroundings. An ideal stopover for walking the Cumbria Way. A warm welcome from Finn and Marina in the very comfortable New Dungeon Ghyll hotel with good beer and excellent food. The local National Trust bar called Sticklebarn is next door to the hotel which is warm and inviting and serves refreshments and food until 5:30pm. The choice of real ales is also very good. There is nothing else here except beautiful scenery, sheep and walks. It has everything one needs.Guest review byBridget - 10

There was snow on the mountains which turned to heavy rain and flooding the next day. The staff at the hotel were therefore attending to various emergencies, with people not being able to get home, and others cancelling. Throughout they remained calm, helpful and friendly. Diane and her staff looked after me very well the whole time. The hotel was very warm and welcoming, comfortable beds, fluffy towels and loads of hot water.
