Check in by Katie was brilliant considering we had made an error. A compliment to the hotel. Doreen the lady who served us breakfast was excellent as well. The staff are all very good. This is a recommended value for money stay.

The room was huge and the bathroom spectacular. All of the staff were extremely polite and responsive from the moment we checked in and were helped with our bags. The food was great and the location in the heart of Dedham Vale stunningly beautiful.

    My last post unfortuanately related to another property and...

    My last post unfortuanately related to another property and I have been unable to delete it. A big sorry to the owners who can hopefully do so for me. This property was spacious and well presented and I would happily stay there again. On the downside was the lack of height when using the stairs or entering some rooms. I did suggest that a notice of 'Mind your head' would be helpful and from my short chat with the owner I believe this wull have been attended to. There was a problem with the range in the kitchen which lasted all week. The oily smell was unpleasant and I guess has already been attended to. A brochure and instructions on how to best use this would have been helpful. BUT, apart from those mentioned I could not fault the property and am sure future guests will be well pleased should they choose this venue. It will be great chance to appreciate what living was like years ago for the more wealthy.

    We were pleased to see a welcome basket in kitchen that had all local products in . Communications with estate manager was always good if we needed anything . The local area is beautiful and the cottage was perfect 🤩 lots of great dog walks from your back door in private land owned by the owner . Fabulous farm shop just up the road sells lovely organic products. Also fab restaurant Milsoms at Dedham about ten mins away highly recommend . The cottage had a beautiful garden of its own all fenced in and plenty of parking . The bedrooms were beautiful very comfortable beds . Cooked a few lovely meals kitchen had everything we needed big American fridge / freezer . Four bedroom is separate to the house which was perfect for my teenager . Plenty of hot water bath was big and showers good . Would definitely return . Accommodates a big family well with dogs too .

    We had a fantastic stay in Higham and would love to visit again. Would highly recommend if you have a dog as the 15 acres of parkland on your doorstep is fenced off from the road. The village is small and pretty but no pavements so difficult to walk around. There are some amazing walks through the Brett Valley and Dedham Vale and beautiful drives from your doorstep, especially the winding Hadleigh Road via Shelly toward Layham. A visit to Dedham is a must and so is the walk from Dedham to Flatford along the riverbank. We ate a lovely brunch at the Marquis in Layham.
