Very clean, comfy and excellent location. Staff were very helpful, especially the cleaning staff, as our door lock got stuck and wouldn’t open. They called the front reception and had the manager come and fix the door very quickly. Beautiful location, close to the canal for walks, the restaurant was very good and if you had kids a nice playground for them. There was even Sunday afternoon music in the garden, very pleasant. Recommend and would stay again.

This is a charming somewhat quirky hotel decorated in an interesting "country manor house" style. Our room, with its slightly sloping floor, was large and very comfortable. The bathroom had everything we needed. The staff were super efficient and very, very helpful. These ladies carried our stupidly large suitcases up the 2 flights of steps to our room, a service we gratefully accepted. The food was excellent - breakfast faultless and dinner in the restaurant excellent.

FAQs about hotels in Lincoln

The Glory of Medieval England

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.

Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.

This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.

Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

So much to see and a great ambience...

So much to see and a great ambience... We had specifically planned to visit the castle, the cathedral and some of the historical buildings around. We were not disappointed with any of these. Both the castle and the cathedral are oozing history which you are helped to appreciate by knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides. Jaw-dropping experiences in both of them! Both are very visitor friendly too. The city itself was a pleasant surprises, not least because of the youthful vibe coming from the very prominent presence of the University. If you are into shopping this is an excellent place - lots of variety and easy to get around. Though with only two nights there we barely scratched the surface. And if you want good old quality fish and chips which really are "cheap as chips" The Sign of the Fish is worth looking out...

Amazing city, beautiful historic areas to explore.

Amazing city, beautiful historic areas to explore. The cathedral was beautiful especially at choir practise, the castle was free to go into the grounds and was lovely to read the history. Would go in the castle next time. The history of the streets and all the information panels were so fascinating and the variety of independent shops and cafes was very good.

Lincoln is a wonderful experience for all.

Lincoln is a wonderful experience for all. History buffs can see the Magna Carta in Lincoln Castle and learn about how the city played an important role in democracy. There are many restaurants along the waterfront or in the city center to enjoy after a day at the shops. I spent a week there mid August and the weather was wonderful and the city is very walkable. It’s truly a gem for singles, friends, and families of all ages.

Lincoln is a fabulous place to stay.

Lincoln is a fabulous place to stay. We really enjoyed our trip. The cathedral is magnificent and the tours offered are excellent. We didn't have time to visit the castle but heard from other guests that that was excellent too. We loved the individual shops and quaintness of Steep Hill but if you have mobility issues you would find it very difficult to walk up it. There is plenty to see in Lincoln and a 2 night stay wasn't enough. There is an open top bus which you can get that takes you to the various sites if you are short of time . We loved the many eateries in the town and had 2 excellent restaurant meals in the evening and plenty of coffee shops to enjoy. Lincoln is an excellent choice for a short stay and the cathedral is a 'must see'. The restaurant in the cathedral is excellent too.

Location was great, very close to the Cathedral and at the top of Steep Hill, the historic part of town. There is an open top bus tour of Lincoln that goes to International Bomber Command and you can get on and off the bus. The bus starts its tour at the front of the Cathedral. The hotel was very pleasant and staff very friendly and helpful.
