FAQs about hotels in Manchester

The Capital of Northern England

With an industrial past and a modern outlook, the complex fabric of Manchester is interlaced with interesting museums, English pubs and shopping centers.

Dash straight into the luxurious Selfridges and Triangle departments stores before checking out the old-English charm of the Shambles.

Manchester wouldn't be the same without its 2 famous football clubs and fans can go wild at either of the Old Trafford or City of Manchester Stadiums. Music fans will adore the many shows performed at the Manchester Arena, the largest of its type in Europe, and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

The cultural foundations of this predominantly red-brick city are on display at the Manchester Museum and the People’s History Museum. If art is you preference, the extensive pre-Raphaelite collection at the Manchester Art Gallery is a sight to behold.

Whether you’re flying into Manchester International Airport for business or partying in one of the 500 bars in city, Booking.com’s hotels and apartments can match your accommodation needs.

The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are...

The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are worth a visit. There are surprising pockets of history like Castlefield and Deansgate but they are hidden and need to be discovered. But overall the city is a hodge-podge of bad architecture including a lot of new tall towers placed senselessly throughout the city. The Chapel Street where the hotel is located is visually depressing - rundown buildings and dirty lanes wherever one looks. Obviously there seemed to be no city planning vision and willingness to keep the city clean. Streets are dirty, garbage all over especially in side streets and along the canals. Eating out is expensive for this type of city and 10 - 12.5% service charge is common. Trains station and airport are outdated and not up to snuff. But that is the reason for travelling to experience the unknown.

Manchester was such a fun and vibrant city to explore!

Manchester was such a fun and vibrant city to explore! Between shopping at the mall and a few amazing thrift stores, I found some real gems. The food was great, and the cocktails were even better — every spot had its own charm. I loved the mix of history, fashion, and energy here — can’t wait to come back!

There was so much on offer.

There was so much on offer. I had one and a half days where I able to explore: four museums/art galleries - The Lowry, The Science and Engineering Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and The Jewish Museum; I went to Salford Quays, Canal Street, St Peter's Square, Media City; Found statues and paintings of: Turin, Pankhurst, Albert, Gandhi, Lily Savage, Vimto: Visited Manchester Library with the HVI exhibition; Manchester Cathedral where I heard a talk from the Head of Manchester Prison. Wow, what a wonderful weekend!

Manchester is an amazing city - for business or pleasure.

Manchester is an amazing city - for business or pleasure. There is a vast selection of restaurants and the shops are fabulous - although not many independent boutiques, all high-street chains. Not a great city for cars, recommend travelling in by train or taxi. Most of the city centre is pedestrianised, which is much safer when walking around. If you're looking for finer dining, head to Spinningfields, or Grand Pacific (stunning restaurant!). If you're on a hen/stag doo, head for Deansgate or Canal Street. If you're partial to Chinese food, head to China Town - there are some amazing restaurants there! If you're looking for an indy/student vibe, head to the Northern Quarter. Manchester has something for everyone!

My fifth visit for six nights, everything was perfect. Luther King House is set in its own lovely grounds, has a residents car park, and is very quiet at night. Martin and James in the breakfast room give exceptional, friendly service with lots of local information. Great location for Manchester Airport, Curry Mile, and City Centre. The hotel is served by three nearby night buses, which are very helpful for a late night out in the city. Highly recommended for travellers on a budget who want value for money and a lovely atmosphere.
